According to LJ, I updated 40 weeks ago.

To me, that seems like a very arbitrary number. 40 weeks? Almost a year? It's possible. I could just look at the previous entry's date, but I'm not going to.

I always sit down and plan on writing something epic but usually these posts turn into rant fest '94 or blabber fest '77 and we get nowhere.

Isn't that the point of blogs anyway?

I had a test this morning. I thought it was easy. Other than the fact I didn't know how the hell to do the last two questions at all. Even though we got to use a cheat sheet, I failed at writing down the formula for SAFETY STOCK.

The sad thing is the formula is easy: safety stock = (standard deviation) * (service factor)

The sadder thing is I was studying one of my problem sets (in which I got 18/20 on even though I missed the last 50 answers, literally.) Literally, there were 55 answers in the excel spreadsheet, and I got 5 of them right. And still got an 18/20.

So I was really just making up numbers that I thought looked good and put them as the answer on the test. Let's hope it works out in the same way.

Don't you hate it when your prof says "YOU MUST KNOW THIS FOR THE TEST." And then it doesn't appear on the test? I was looking through powerpoint slides and I had in big words, starred off, "KNOW FOR TEST." So it took up 5% of my cheat sheet and 0% of the test.

Sarah Palin says she wouldn't hesitate to run for high office again if it's "God's will." I'm pretty sure God doesn't give a fuck about who is running the country in the United States. In fact, I'm pretty sure its the will of the people that dictates who will be running for presidency etc.

Keeping up with her lack of basic world geography, she comes out with this line: "I think the economic collapse had a heckuva lot more to do with the campaign's collapse than me personally," the governor said in an interview broadcast Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

What? Campaign collapse? Economic collapse? Correlation? Causation? What the hell does this even mean? Her statement is akin to something like this:
"I think gravity had a heckuva lot more to do with Mir space station collapse than me personally."

See, I can't even make an eligible comparison.

I'm running on 2 hours of sleep so I think I will go take a nap.

*** SUMMARY ***

Why would I post a hand history where I lose? Well I think I played this hand magnificently. I am dealt 244 and have to bring in. A freebie here, as it is not raised and I get to see 4th street for free.

One important aspect I've noticed in stud8 is when people in the pot stick around with low cards, and then hit a 9 or higher on 4th street. Usually this has counterfeited their hand and you can bet to steal, provided there are few people in the pot. Notice on 4th street that myself and tomcat both hit low cards, very suspecting to people with high hands.

Calling with 2445 is not a strong move, in fact its rather crap. It's not a move I'd normally do but I wanted to see if I could get lucky. I do, catching the 3 on 5th street giving me an up and down straight draw with the nut low draw. Tomcat catches a king, counterfeiting his (4 card?) low. qbng comes out betting with T95 showing, I raise it with my cards given. My raise here serves three purposes. One is to get tomcat out of the pot. My other is to drive the action and raise the stakes a little, and the other is to make qbng think I could have a made low, freerolling for a straight.

Tomcat leaves the pot, probably thinking I have a made low. Qbng just calls with his donky pair of tens I bet. 6th street gives me a blank, queen. It pairs Qbng with 9's who CHECKS*. Giving me a free card to the river (a big no-no in stud). Unfortunately I miss everything and must fold to his river bet.

*This is a huge check. I paid $2 on 5th street and $0 on 6th street to see the river. Had I call/called it would have cost me the same thing ($1 + $1), because Qbng would have most likely come out betting after improving his hand. Removing tomcat from the hand by raising gives me great advantage for the simple fact that I can hit any of my low cards to win half the pot, with two of those low cards giving me a straight. Tomcat could have easily had a better low draw, and had he stayed in, the cards could have come 8 to me, 7 to him. Giving us both lows, but giving him the better low, and there would be at that point absolutely no way he was folding.

Had to add this one, cause after reading this news story...it was inevitable:

"You wanna seize my what?"
"Yuh, yuh grill, yuh yuh, ya grill"

As many of Internet browsers may start to see, "obv" is becoming a popular word used online.
Now I'm not saying that I coined the word, because it's pretty obv that it's not hard to make.
But let me just say this: I was the first person to ever RECORD the word on a website.
It started in an IRC chat and I was saying obv obv obv instead of obvious or obviously.
And I did an internet search for "obv obvious" or something, and found barely anytihng.
But now when I do it...
Yeah, I started obv about 3-4 years ago.

Redemption. Finally. After months and months of non-winless poker, I finally am back into my groove. Playing sensible poker, I pulled through and won a $2 multi table. Cause I'm poor and my bankroll was $50, I turned that $2 into $437.

I love play pokah

Someone send me rom + emulator, I need to play Tactics again.

Holy crap, I had to make an addendum to this. I have to make this announcement:

When the fuck did it become 1998 again

I log on to MySpace (aka the most horrible site in existance due to the noobs). And every fucking message on the bulletin is a god damn chain letter. I don't even understand how people fill them out. If they think they work, then they are just fucking stupid. If they are doing it to be funny, they are just fucking stupid. If you send a chain letter, you are FUCKING STUPID. PERIOD.

This comment might have summed up my superb 7 card stud playing ability:

"There's some talking going on in here" (translation: You guys are cheating).

All I did was catch two pair on 6th street and check raised him for his remaining 3 dollars.

P.S. You guys realize what happens after global warming right? The glaciers melt, the water level rises, that means more water in the atmosphere, that means more saturation, that means more snow in the arctic, that means glaciers come back and the process starts all over again.

We're just speeding things up.

I'm quoting Max on this one, can't believe I didn't think of it. So Joaquin Phoenix flips his car, and just walks away like nothing happened. Joaquin Phoenix > Chuck Norris.

Check this out, it's funny: http://www.arr-the-kraken.com/comments.php?newsid=314 (Ryan Duffield i know you've seen it)

So then there's this other horrible movie. I mean, what kind of storyline is this. "Snakes On a Plane" starring Samuel L. Jackson: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0417148/

So at the river I had nothing. No low, no high. When the turn was dealt, it put that nut low draw up there for people with A3. Sure enough someone comes out betting and we all call. When that river pairs the board with deuces, everyone frowns. They all missed their low draws. I figure that no one hit the deuce, because they wouldn't have even stayed in the pot. So when the river came, I come out betting and sure enough, it all folds cause they had low draws.

That's what's good.
